An Answered Prayer at the IRS–A 10th Anniversary Story
An Impact Foundation staff blog, by Meredith Craig
In the rush of everyday life, it’s all too easy to miss the gentle glimpses of God at work around us. Sometimes they appear in small, sweet moments—like the kindness of a stranger or the innocence of a child. But occasionally, a glimpse is so clear it stops us in our tracks, a miracle orchestrated by God at exactly the right time.
This was evident in November of 2015, when Impact Foundation was just getting started. To become a fully recognized charity, we needed the IRS to approve our 1023 application. Jeff Johns and Aimee Minnich knew this approval was key to the launch of their dream, Impact Foundation. Recognizing the significance of this decision, Aimee began praying daily and calling the IRS to check on the application. With no response.
One day in late November, Aimee felt prompted to pray vividly and specifically not only for the application’s approval but also for the IRS employee reviewing it—asking that she would see it, read it, stamp it, and send it out for approval.
Aimee then rose from her knees and called the IRS. To her surprise, the phone was answered quickly by the revenue agent assigned the application. The agent had just that morning reviewed the file and had one small question remaining. Aimee answered the question, and the agent confirmed that the application was complete and would be stamped and approved immediately.
What could have been a long and complicated process was resolved almost instantly—a clear reminder of God’s leading for the organization. For Jeff and Aimee, it confirmed that He is in control and that nothing can stand in the way of His plans.
Stories like this remind us that God is always at work, even when the challenges before us feel impossible from a human perspective. His presence is revealed not only in miraculous moments but also in quiet, everyday acts. When we pause, pray, and notice, we see that He is always faithful—opening doors and orchestrating circumstances right when we need them.
