Even though an organization is recognized as tax exempt, it still may be liable for tax on its unrelated business income. Generally, a charity must pay taxes on its income from a business that is not closely related to its mission (for example, a Christian school operating a dry-cleaning business). We deploy a variety of strategies to avoid or limit the amount of UBIT tax payable:
1. Anything closely related to Impact Foundation's charitable purpose, known as a Program Related Investment, is generally free from UBIT, and;
2. Impact Foundation's investment losses can offset investment income, and;
3. Impact Foundation's trust structure allows us to benefit from tax deductions for the grants we make to other charities.
As a result, our effective tax rate will generally be much lower than what a traditional investor would pay on the same income. -
This is likely due to one or more subscription-based investments. Your account may have outstanding commitments to invest that have not yet been “called” by the company or investment fund. To view your outstanding commitments, navigate to "Portfolio" + "Committed".
-
In most cases the Cause or Industry of an investment has been determined in consultation with the Portfolio Company. We periodically review these classifications to ensure accuracy. If you have questions about a specific company or investment, please email: portal@impactfoundation.org, or call 1-929-4-IMPACT.

Impact Foundation does not publish a list of companies and funds that are open to new investments, but our Solution Providers would love to talk this through with you. Additionally, we have organized investments on the "Explore" page by investment date with the most recent investments listed first. This may provide an indication of which investments are currently raising capital.

Here are some suggestions to try, however we're happy to discuss with you:
1. Please ensure you're viewing the correct Impact Account. Some Donor/Investors have more than one. Go the white field in the top right of the nav (next to Logout) and click on the downward arrow/carrot. If you have more than one account it will be listed and you can toggle between the two.
2. Please ensure you’ve selected the appropriate time period on the "Portfolio" page. Under the blue Account Summary bar you can choose between different time periods.
3. Is an investment you expected to see not visible? First, make sure you invested through Impact Foundation, if you need further help, please contact us.Your Solution Provider or our portal team are happy to answer any questions. Contact us at 1-929-4-IMPACT or portal@impactfoundation.org.

We anticipated a few places where key terms and definitions could be beneficial. Look for the blue type and question mark: ? SEE DEFINITIONS and click the text for a pop up box to display. Please contact your Solution Provider or our portal team at portal@impactfoundation.org or 1-929-4-IMPACT.
