NeighborHealth Center: When Partnership Becomes A Lifeline
A Portfolio Company update: NeighborHealth Center
NeighborHealth Center is dedicated to caring for the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—through excellent, patient-centered healthcare. Rooted in its mission to serve Christ, NeighborHealth demonstrates love for its neighbors by providing compassionate, accessible, and high-quality medical care.
COMMITMENT: HIGH-QUALITY COMMUNITY CARE
In 2023, NeighborHealth Center, a Raleigh-based private, non-profit, entered a challenging financial period that could have led to its closure. Thousands of patients would have lost access to primary care, with devastating consequences for the community.
NeighborHealth offers primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, prenatal care, geriatrics, behavioral health and counseling services, and more. Founded in 2018, the Center is deeply committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care to community members, many of whom have few viable medical options. That commitment, however, was increasingly costly.
FINANCIAL GAP
As COVID-related funding ended, NeighborHealth was providing more unreimbursed care to uninsured patients than it could sustain, and more than other similar health centers. Despite careful stewardship and a mission focused on service, the gap between care delivered and dollars received was too wide for sustainability. Survival required a fundamental operational adjustment—restructuring the organization, redesigning its revenue model, and making difficult decisions.
In the midst of restructuring, NeighborHealth found renewed hope. They partnered with Impact Foundation, an organization that works with kingdom-minded Donor/Investors to steward charitable capital for economic, social, and spiritual transformation. Generous Donor/Investors responded with funding, providing the financial support and breathing room needed to stabilize operations. Grounded in focus, discipline, and prayer, the organization moved forward believing transformation was possible.
PRAYERFUL RESTRUCTURING
NeighborHealth designed a new revenue model that aligned financial sustainability with mission and impact. It restructured its staffing model, making difficult, deeply personal decisions with prayerful discernment and a long-term view of its responsibility to the patients served.
By God’s grace and faithful stewardship, the work resulted in a full financial turnaround in 2025. Stability replaced uncertainty, and sustainability replaced survival mode.
In November 2025, NeighborHealth fully repaid the loan to Impact Foundation and the Donor/Investor’s Impact Accounts.
“As the CEO of NeighborHealth Center, this was one of the most humbling moments of my leadership journey. The relational value it yielded is irreplaceable. This experience reinforced for me that a faith-aligned partnership is not just about the capital—it is about trust, patience, and walking alongside one another, especially when the path forward is unclear.” —Daniel Lipparelli, MBA, CEO, NeighborHealth Center
A PATH TO THE FUTURE
In 2025, NeighborHealth served 7,566 unique patients for a total of 25,302 visits in its clinic. Today, they stand stronger and are better positioned to serve the community for years to come. It’s an important reminder that when faith and stewardship come together, transformation is truly possible.
