In preclinical studies, the technology demonstrated tumor suppression equal to or greater than the current standard of care while showing no evidence of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy or many of chemotherapy's most debilitating side effects. The idea traces back to Dr. Ren Homan, whose career had already produced breakthrough HDL technologies that ultimately led to the acquisition of his previous company by AstraZeneca. After more than three decades focused on cardiovascular medicine, he began asking a different question: What if the same biology that transports "good cholesterol" throughout the body could also deliver chemotherapy directly to cancer? Together with oncology drug development expert Dr. Bill Elliott, the search for answers became Peptinovo Biopharma.

Approaching a Defining Milestone
The company has received regulatory approval in Australia and is completing its final efficacy study before enrolling the first patients in a Phase 1 clinical trial later in 2026. The dose-escalation study will enroll approximately 18–25 patients with solid tumors, designed to evaluate the therapy's safety profile and determine the maximum tolerated dose before advancing to larger efficacy trials. While this first study will utilize Paclitaxel delivered through the PALM™ platform, the technology is compatible with at least 60% of existing chemotherapy agents, creating the potential to expand its impact across numerous cancer types as future clinical trials progress. With both Australian regulators and the FDA having accepted the safety data supporting human trials, the company anticipates launching U.S. clinical studies in late 2026 or early 2027.
